How to install Sage Line 50 2007 network version.

Installing your new program is a straightforward and easy process.

To prepare to install Sage Line 50 2007


Note: This article assumes that your CD drive is d:\, if your CD drive is named differently, then please replace d with the appropriate letter.


Before installing Sage Line 50 2007, please follow the steps below:


If you are upgrading from an earlier version of Sage Accounts, you should do the following:
Check Data option - this option allows you to check that the data you are converting is error free. For further information about this, please refer to Ask Sage -

Take at least two backups of your data - this ensures that you have secure copies of your data taken before the conversion, and can restore this data at any point after the conversion.

In all cases you should do the following:


View the ReadMe file - the ReadMe file is available from the installation CD and holds important information about your new program. To view the ReadMe file, insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive. If you have Autorun enabled, the Welcome to Sage Line 50 2007 window appears. To view the ReadMe, click View ReadMe.Tip: If autorun is not enabled, open the Windows Start menu, choose Run, then type d:\start in the Open box. The menu based installation appears. To view the ReadMe, click View ReadMe.


Check your Regional Settings - If you are upgrading from Sage Accounts v8.xx or below, or are installing Sage Line 50 2007 as new, the base currency is set to the country specified in your Regional Settings. You must ensure that this is correct before you install your new program. The Regional Settings can be viewed or amended from within the Windows Control Panel.
Check your existing Sage Accounts directory on both the client and server PCs - To do this, from within Sage Accounts open the Help menu, choose About then click the System Information tab. From the left-hand pane, click Directories. The program and data directories appear in the right-hand pane. Make a note of these as they may be required later.
Close all programs - Before you install Sage Line 50 2007 you should save any unsaved work on your PC then, wherever possible, close any programs that you have open. You must close all Sage programs and Microsoft Excel.


If you are installing Sage Line 50 2007 for the first time, from each client PC you must map a drive to the shared program folder on the server PC and make a note of the mapped drive letter.
Note: This can only be done after you have installed Sage Line 50 2007 on the server PC, and shared the program folder.
You have now prepared to install Sage Line 50 2007 , and can proceed to the following section.

To install Sage Line 50 2007 on the server PC


Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive.
If Autorun is enabled, the Welcome to Sage Line 50 2007 window appears.
Tip: If you do not have Autorun enabled, open the Windows Start menu, choose Run, enter d:\start in the Open box.
The Welcome to Sage Line 50 2007 window appears.


From the Welcome to Sage Line 50 2007 window, click Install Sage Line 50 2007.
The InstallShield Wizard starts the installation then the Software Licence Agreement window appears.

Read the Software Licence Agreement then, to accept the Terms and Conditions of the licence and continue with the installation, click Yes.
The Setup routine searches for installed components then the Select Installation Type window appears.

To perform a custom installation of Sage Line 50 2007 please proceed to step 6.

To install Sage Line 50 2007 using the default settings, from the Select Installation Type window, click the Express Install button.
Note: The default settings are as follows:
Destination Folder - C:\Program Files\Sage\AccountsProgram Folder - Sage Accounts - This is the option for Sage Line 50 2007 on your Start menu.
The Current Settings appear.

To continue with the installation, click Next then proceed to step 10.

To perform a custom installation of Sage Line 50 2007, from the Select Installation Type window, click the Custom Install button.

The Select Components window appears. You can de-select any components that you do not want to install, for example, when installing over an existing program directory and you do not want to overwrite certain program components.

The Destination Folder is automatically entered. To change this, click Browse, locate and select a new destination folder, then click OK.
The path to the destination folder appears.
Note: If you are installing Sage Line 50 2007 over an existing installation, ensure that the Destination Folder is the same as the folder in which your existing installation is located.
To proceed with the installation, click Next then complete the Select Program folder window as follows:

To accept the default Program Folder, click Next.

To select a Program Folder from the list of Existing Folders, select the required folder then click Next.

To create a new folder, in the Program Folder box, enter the folder name, then click Next.

The Start Copying Files window appears.

To accept the settings on the Start Copying Files window and proceed with the installation, click Next.
The Microsoft .NET framework 2.0, program files, ODBC drivers and e-Banking files are copied to the relevant destination folder. When this is complete, the Installation Complete window appears.Note: The Microsoft .NET framework 2.0 may take several minutes to install.

To complete the installation, click Finish.

The installation completes and the Welcome to Sage Line 50 2007 window appears.

To close the Welcome to Sage Line 50 2007 window and return to the desktop, click Quit then click Yes.
The Windows desktop appears.
You have now successfully installed Sage Line 50 2007 on your server PC and must now install Sage Line 50 2007 on the client PCs. For further information about this, please refer to the following section.

To install Sage Line 50 2007 on the client PCs

Note: This procedure explains how to install Sage Line 50 2007 on the client PCs. This routine can be run from more than one client PC at the same time. Before proceeding, you must share the Sage Line 50 2007 program directory on the server PC and then map a drive from the client PCs to this shared folder.


From the Windows desktop, open the Start menu then choose Run.
The Run window appears.


From the Run window, click Browse then locate and select the Netsetup file from your server PC. For example, assuming that you have installed your program into C:\Program Files\Sage\Accounts on the server:
If your mapped drive letter is H: and you have mapped it directly to the Accounts folder on the server then from the client PC the path is H:
Alternatively, if your mapped drive letter is H: and you have mapped it to the C: drive on the server, then from the client PC the path is H:\Program Files\Sage\Accounts.
The path to the Netsetup file appears in the Open box.

To start the installation, click OK.
The InstallShield starts and the Microsoft .NET framework 2.0 installs.Note: The Microsoft .NET framework 2.0 may take several minutes to install. If the Microsoft .NET framework 2.0 is already installed on this PC, the Sotware Licence Agreement window appears.

In the Software Licence Agreement window, you should read the Software Licence Agreement, then to accept the Terms and Conditions and continue with the installation, click Yes.

The Setup routine searches for installed components then the choose destination location window appears.


The Destination Folder is automatically entered. To change this, click Browse then locate and select the new Destination Folder.
Note: If you are installing Sage Line 50 2007 over an existing program folder, ensure that the Destination Path is the same as noted earlier on this client PC.
The path to the Destination Folder appears.


To proceed with the installation, click Next then complete the Select Program Folder window as follows:
To accept the default Program Folder, click Next.
To select a Program Folder from the list of Existing Folders, select the required folder then click Next.
To create a new folder, in the Program Folder box, enter the folder name then click Next.
The Start Copying Files window appears.


To accept the settings on the Start Copying Files window and proceed with the installation, click Next.
Note: To return to a previous window and amend the settings, click Back.
The program files, ODBC drivers and e-Banking files are copied to the relevant Destination Folder. When this is complete, the Installation Complete window appears.


To complete the installation, click Finish.
The installation completes and the Windows desktop appears.

To access Sage Line 50 2007 if you have upgraded


From the Windows desktop, open the Start menu then choose Programs.
The Program Folders appear.


From the Program Folders, choose the Sage Accounts folder.
Note: If you selected a different folder during the installation routine, please select that folder.
The contents of the Sage Accounts folder appear.


From the Sage Accounts folder, click Sage Accounts 2007.
Sage Line 50 2007 opens and a prompt appears informing you that data has been found from a previous version and asks if you want to convert it.
Note: The data conversion routine only runs the first time the data is accessed from the new version of Sage Line 50. Therefore, the Convert Data routine does not run on all PCs.


To convert your data, click Yes.
The data is converted then checked by Sage Line 50 2007.


If there are no problems, the File maintenance window appears informing you of this. To continue, click OK.


To close the File Maintenance Problems Report, click Close.
The File Maintenance window appears.


To close the File maintenance window, click Close.
The File maintenance window closes and the Conversion Log appears.


Check the contents of the Conversion Log then to close the report, click Close.
Note: If required, the Conversion Log can be printed.
The Conversion Log report closes and your Sage Line 50 2007 desktop appears.
You have now converted your data, and can begin processing in your new program.

To access Sage Line 50 2007 for the first time


From the windows desktop, open the Start menu then choose Programs.
The Program Folders appear.


From the Program Folders, select the Sage Accounts folder.
Note: If you specified a different folder during the installation routine, please select that folder.
The contents of the Sage Accounts folder appear.

From the Sage Accounts folder, click Sage Accounts 2007.
The ActiveSetup Wizard appears.

To proceed with the set up, complete the Sage Line 50 - Company Set-up window as follows:

Choose from one of the following:

Set-up a new company - Select this option to create a new set of data. This is the default selection. If this is the first time you have used Sage Accounts, you should use this option.
Use a company already set-up in another installation - To copy and convert existing data, either on your PC or on a networked PC, select this option, then in the next window, click Browse then browse to and select the data to be copied.

From this point the ActiveSetup Wizard takes you through the steps required to set up your company information.

You should continue with this wizard until you have set up your company information and the program activation window appears.

To complete the ActiveSetup Wizard and save the information you have entered, click Finish.
The Logon window appears.

Enter the logon name of MANAGER, leave the password blank then click OK. You can set up your user names and passwords as required after accessing Sage Line 50 2007.

I followed this method but still can't get a "networked" Sage to work. Are there separate versions for Sage Line 50 "Single User" and "Multiuser"? If so, how can I tell?
